Bill Cosby, 80, will be confined to his home while he awaits sentencing on his sexual assault conviction.

After he was found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault, Judge Steven O’ Neil placed Cosby under house arrest and ordered him to wear a GPS device. The three counts of sexual assault were penetration with lack of consent, penetration after administering an intoxicant and penetration while unconscious. Each of these felonies are punishable up to 10 years in prison.

 

Cosby will only be able to leave his home to meet with his lawyers or receive medical treatment but he must obtain permission beforehand.

Prosecutors originally wanted Cosby taken into custody immediately, but the judge took into account Cosby’s age and his consistency at arriving to court.

Cosby was released on a $1 million bail. His lawyers say they plan to seek an appeal.
