Anderson Cooper Hit By Debris Live On Air While Reporting From Florida During Hurricane Milton

During a live report in Florida on CNN, anchor Anderson Cooper was struck by debris due to Hurricane Milton’s winds.

“The water now is really starting to our over,” Cooper, 57, reported from outside, covered in rain. “If you look at the ground, whoa–,” he stopped as debris hit him.

“OK, that wasn’t good,” he continued. “Um, we’ll probably go inside shortly, but you can see the amount of water here on the ground. This water is from the Manatee River.”

After Cooper’s incident, CNN anchor Kaitlin Collins addressed the audience.

“I do want to note for everyone watching who is very concerned obviously about all of our correspondents and anchors on the ground, Anderson is OK,” she reported. “Just obviously understandably difficult to establish a connection when you’re seeing what’s happening with the wind and the rain. And obviously the deteriorating conditions by the minute.”

Deemed initially a Category 4 storm, Hurricane Milton was declared Category 3 before making landfall on Wednesday and was later classified as a Category 2 storm.

More than three million people lost power in the wake of Milton. The city of St. Petersburg saw 16 inches of rainfall.

On Tuesday, Florida weatherman John Morales choked up during a live segment while speaking about the ‘horrific’ storm headed toward Florida.
