Comic-Con Survival Tips: What You Need To Know
Before heading out to this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, there’s some vital information to hear. Forgetting items like backpacks, comfortable shoes and cash can leave visitors with a less than perfect experience, which is not up to par for this highly anticipated festival. Here are some of the most important tips for 2014 Comic-Con:
Bring A Backpack
According to David S. Goyer, the executive producer of Constantine, a backpack is a must for the day. Since there’s always a huge crowd and so much swag to bring home, a backpack will rid you of tired arms. Also, make sure to put some cash in that backpack in case you want to purchase some souvenirs.
Don’t Try To Do Too Much
Of course, the excitement for Comic-Con has people wanting to visit as many places as their bodies and time will allow, but this could actually have a negative impact. Aisha Tyler (Archer) believes attendees should fight the urge to see everything, because it will leave them exhausted and without full appreciation of what they saw.
Make Sure You Have A Way In
Some of the events require a ticket, even if the ticket is free. The halls have capacities, which means there’s a set amount of people who can enter. Don’t be disappointed by running to a panel you’d love to attend then finding out you can’t get in without a ticket!
Be Comfortable
One of the biggest traditions at Comic-Con is dressing up like a favorite character. This can, and most likely will, be great; however, don’t go for an outfit so realistic that you’ll be hot or in pain half way through the day. A comfortable outfit and comfortable shoes can make your experience a great one.
Bring Food And Water
If you go all day without eating any food or drinking any water, you’re more than likely to hinder your experience. It’s a long day, so keeping hydrated and full will grant you all the energy you need to attend every event you have in mind.
Don’t Stress
It’s easy to become overwhelmed with all of the events going on at Comic-Con, but don’t fret; the festival should be a fun, carefree time. David Greenwalt, creator and executive producer of Grimm, says to “go with the flow.”
Don't Forget Your Charger
Whether it’s for your camera or your phone, chargers are a must. Taking pictures all day will wear out battery quickly. “Pick up some of those rechargeable cell phone batteries.”
Overall, plan out the trip for Comic-Con ahead of time, so when the day(s) come, they’ll be fun and not stressful. Remember these tips to have a smooth trip.
