K-Pop Star Lee Jihan, 24, Dies In Halloween Party Stampede In Seoul That Left 150 Dead
K-Pop singer and actor Lee Jihan has tragically died at 24. The star was one of many victims of the fatal crowd rush that took place in Seoul, South Korea on October 29.
The young performer’s agency, 935 Entertainment, said in an October 30 statement, “It’s true that Lee Ji Han passed away due to the accident in Itaewon on October 29.”
“We also hoped that it wasn’t true, and we were very shocked to hear the news,” they continued. “The family is suffering immense grief right now, so we are being very cautious. May he rest in peace.”
The agency also called the actor “a star in the sky” who “left us.”

Jihan’s fellow contestants on the talent competition show, Produce 101, mourned the K-pop star on social media.
“Ji Han has left this world and gone to a comfortable place. We ask that you say goodbye to him on his final path,” cast members Park Heeseok, Jo Jinhyung and Kim Dohyun wrote on Instagram.
More than 150 people died on Saturday when Halloween celebrations in popular nightlife area of Itaewon turned into a devastating crowd surge.
More than 130 were injured and there have been many thousands of missing person reports filed since the tragedy occurred.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fatal event, but guests seem to have been dangerously packed into very narrow streets.
Following the Itaewon crowd rush, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared a period of national mourning that will go through November 5. Many entertainment shows will not air until this period is over.
After he gained fame competing in the second season of Produce 101 in 2017, Jihan appeared in the popular Korean drama series, Today Was Another Nam Hyun Day two years later.
Jihan’s funeral will take place on November 1.
