This election season has been sprinkled with a ton of PSAs urging young people to vote. Now, Kesha is featured in a new video, expressing her support for LGBTQ rights.

The singer appears on a video for Vevo’s “Why I Vote” campaign that stresses the importance of the upcoming presidential election, including a discussion about LGBTQ people potentially losing their rights. Revealing some personal stories, Kesha is seen bursting into tears in the video.

The video shows clips from home videos, recalling the pop star’s childhood in Nashville where she was repeatedly bullied for being “different.” She struggled with her sexuality, fearing that she may be gay. It also features footage from some of her concerts and of her visits to the Los Angeles LGBT Center. She then talks about how she personally married two of her gay friends and how she is continuing to fight for LGBTQ rights.

It has been a very hard year for the “Tik Tok” singer, who endured a lengthy legal battle against Dr. Luke. Despite her personal issues with her former producer, she keeps on fighting for what “really matters. I could never imagine punishing someone for loving a member of whatever sex, or someone with whatever skin color,” she says in the video. “Love is love. Period.”

Vevo’s “Why I Vote” series, which debuted in September, features celebrities sharing stories about why they vote and the importance of doing so on Nov. 8.
