Michelle Obama Rocks Versace Dress, Sends Powerful Message At Last State Dinner
Michelle Obama not only looked great in her custom made Versace dress she wore at the White House State Dinner for Italian Prime Minister Mateo Renzi, but also sent a powerful message.
MICHELLE OBAMA’S VERSACE GOWN
The dress also supported Obama’s recent statements about women’s empowerment.
The dress itself was made of rose gold, like chain mail – a feminine suit of armor. It was designed by Donatella Versace herself, who was tasked with taking over the company, which was founded by her brother who was tragically murdered. Versace even described her most recent collection of women’s clothing as being,“all about a woman’s freedom: freedom of movement, freedom of activity, freedom to fight for their ideas, freedom to be whomever you want to be.”
Given the state of this political election and the recent release of the Trump Tapes, as well as the unfortunate trending of the #RepealThe19th hashtag, the first lady was undoubtedly sending a message – that women are strong-willed and deserve respect.
Michelle Obama had not appeared at a state dinner in Versace until now, so the timing is no coincidence. Versace is pleased with the opportunity as well. “I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to dress the first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama,” Versace said. “Thank you Michelle for all the things you did for America and for the rest of the world, for the women in the U.S. and the rest of the world.”
To elegantly shimmer like Michelle Obama, we recommend an Adrianna Papell Short Sleeve Sequin Mesh Gown in antique rose.
