Emma Stone made an eye-catching entrance at the opening ceremony and premiere of La La Land at the Venice Film Festival at Sala Grande in Venice, Italy.

Stone hit the red carpet at the 73rd Venice Film Festival earlier this week in a shimmering silver ’20s-inspired custom Atelier Versace gown. The dress featured a polo neckline and a dramatic fringed skirt. She completed her outfit with silver strappy sandals and a statement ring.

Stone’s hair was styled for the premiere in a double bun with her bangs swept to the side. “Emma wore a stunning Atelier Versace gown to the opening of the Venice Film Festival, [so] I wanted her hair to have a modern look with a bit of edge,” celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak told Us Weekly.

In La La Land, Stone plays an aspiring actress, who gets wooed by Ryan Gosling‘s jazz pianist. “It is funny when you are friends with someone, because it’s kind of like, ‘Oh my God! What do we do?'” Stone explained to Entertainment Tonight about playing Gosling’s love interest. “I mean, it’s hard for us not to laugh most of the time.”

La La Land, a musical comedy-drama, hits theaters Dec. 16.
