Brady and Trump were reportedly friends before Trump’s presidential bid — and Brady even made a statement that seemed to support Trump’s candidacy back in September 2015.
“I hope so. That would be great,” Brady said, when asked if Trump can win the election. “There’d be a putting green on the White House lawn, I’m sure of that.”
The New England Patriots quarterback was even seen with a “Make America Great Again” Trump hat in his locker. Though, in later months, Brady began to insist that he never really endorsed Trump.
During a press conference held before Brady’s second game of the season, coming back from a four game suspension, a reporter asked him: “How would you respond if your kids heard Donald Trump’s version of locker room talk?”
Brady replied by smiling, and excusing himself from the room. “Thank you guys, have a good day,” he remarked, as he made his exit.
