‘Bachelor In Paradise’ Season 3 Premiere Recap: Chad Johnson Kicked Out For Rude Behavior
3.5/5
Tonight’s episode of The Bachelor In Paradise opened with scenes of crying and grinding, Chris Harrison warning viewers that it’s the most dramatic season yet, and talk of love and proposals.
There’s still the wonderfully cheesy opening credits introducing everyone, notable ones are “The Twins” who still don’t seem to be acknowledged as two people and Chad being named “The Chad.”
The first batch of contestants this season are:
Haley and Emily (Ben’s Season), Nick (Andi and Kaitlyn’s seasons), Jubilee (Ben’s season), Evan (Jojo’s season), Chad (Jojo’s season), Lace (Ben’s season), Daniel (Jojo’s season), and Amanda (Ben’s season).
Amanda is the first to arrive in paradise. She speaks to Chris about where her head’s at and she shares that she’s excited about the possibility of falling in love. She feels confident and hopeful.
Nick arrives next, stating that he’s trying not to have too many expectations which seem to have been his problem in the past.
Jubilee is next, Amanda is excited to see a familiar face.
Evan arrives and both ladies admit he’s cuter in person than he was on the show. He’s instantly attracted to Amanda.
Vinny from Jojo’s season and Carly who was on the last season of BIP arrive next. Carly is remembered for being in a couple with Kirk and then him totally dumping her at the end of the season when it was too late for her to explore other relationships. She promises she’ll “test drive some cars” this time.
Grant, also from Jojo’s season, is next to show up, much to Vinny’s delight. Grant’s plan is to also play it cool.
Daniel gets to Mexico and is not at all impressed with the ladies.
Sarah from Sean’s season and last season of Bachelor in Paradise arrives next.
Daniel is still unimpressed and is using a lot of fruit analogies to explain himself.
The twins are next and are the first ones to meet Daniel’s standards. Not that they are important of course but Haley is into it.
Izzy is next from Ben’s season and she’s immediately interested in Daniel too, he decides to trash-talk Evan during their entire conversation.
Lace arrives and is already explaining how much progress she’s made and how uncrazy she is. Grant mentions in the confessional that he can tell she’s a wreck.
Jubilee is waiting for someone in particular to arrive but won’t tell anyone who it is.
Jared from Kaitlyn’s season and last season of BIP comes next. After the drama with Ashley he is hoping for a better outcome. He is the guy Jubilee has been waiting for.
Evan is dreading the arrival of Chad.
In a dramatic earthquake simulation, he’s here. He apologizes to Evan who accepts it but is a bit skeptical as well.
Daniel and Chad are crowned as the first couple in paradise. They are both extremely cocky and don’t think they have any competition besides each other.
Chris Harrison shows up to welcome this first batch and to explain how it all works. Guys will be handing out the roses this week so one of the ladies will be going home. One interesting catch is with the twins, they will be treated as one woman.
Jubilee receives the first date card, so she gets her pick of all the men. Naturally she picks Jared, since he is who she was waiting for. He agrees to the date and Emily is jealous.
Vinny and Izzy are connecting a bit and even though he called her a wreck, Grant and Lace are hanging out as well. Lace is feeling Chad out too and people are a bit worried about their volatile personalities in addition to the amount of alcohol everyone is consuming.
Jubilee and Jared head out on their date. They’re having a romantic dinner in a pinata-decorated garden and both get a little spooked when a creepy clown sneaks up on them. Besides that they seem to be having good conversations and a good time.
Meanwhile, Izzy and Vinny are heating up. Vinny is trying to be a gentleman by taking it slow but Izzy makes her move and he’s into it.
Lace and Chad are still fighting/making out in a way that’s making everyone uncomfortable but it’s like a car crash, no one can keep their eyes off of it. Finally it seems to have come to a head when Chad calls her the c-word and Lace is over it. Unfortunately Chad can’t quite take a hint.
Daniel tries to tell Chad how he’s coming off to everyone else and that he should dial it back a bit. Chad is a bit too drunk at this point to take any advice.
Sarah is fed up with how he’s acting and says so to his face. He responds in an extremely disrespectful and derogatory way, even going as far to remark about her amputated arm.
Daniel tries again to talk some sense into him and this time is not willing to joke around while doing so.
Chad goes off to pass out on the beach while everyone else heads inside. The general consensus is that he needs to leave.
The next morning everyone still feels the same and Chad is recovering from soiling himself while he was passed out. He acts like nothing happened the night before and seems to be confused as to why no one wants to talk to him.
Chris Harrison pops in and everyone thinks it’s about Chad. They’re right. Chris asks Chad for his side of the story and he gets defensive. Chris is fed up after he watched what went on last night, he apparently was disrespectful to the staff as well, and tells him he has to leave. Chad seems to have forgotten that everything he did was recorded and is confused at the result.
In an unsurprising turn, Chad has no idea where this all came from and can’t understand why no one could take his “jokes.” He drags his feet complaining the whole way out and insults Chris while doing so.
The episode ends with “to be continued…” but in the scenes from next week we see that Chad won’t be leaving without a fight.
