It was another big night on American Idol with Stefano Langone finally being sent home in spite of judge Jennifer Lopez’s continued support. Langone, a wild-card finalist rescued by the Idol judges, appeared as one of the show's bottom-three vote getters a total of four times this season. Staying positive, Langone said, “It started my career. You can’t put a price on that. I’m so blessed. I came this far and it’s great.”

Continuing on will be Georgia-born teen Lauren Alaina, who unfortunately had to miss her prom to appear on the show, as well as Casey Abrams, James Durbin, Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery and Haley Reinhart.

David Cook, the seventh season Idol champion, returned to the show to debut his new single, "The Last Goodbye," but was unfortunately upstaged by a segment from Katy Perry and Kanye West performing their song, “E.T.” featuring a pre-taped segment from West, who made a surprise appearance near the end of the number. —ANDREW BANKIN
