Olivia Somerlyn Biography

Olivia Somerlyn, known in the music industry as LIVVIA, was born on June 4, 1994. She grew up in San Francisco. As a young girl, Somerlyn loved music and would write her own songs, even if they were just simple tunes. Her mother tells her stories of Somerlyn as a little girl dancing and singing around the house, imagining she had an audience.

Somerlyn began to chase her music career while she was in high school. During the week, she would focus on her schoolwork, admitting she was “sort of a nerd,” and really into history. On the weekends, she would travel to Los Angeles to work on her songwriting and recording.

Olivia Somerlyn and the Jonas Brothers

During one of her weekend trips to LA, she happened to meet the Jonas Brothers. After running into the brothers and their family several other times, Somerlyn became friends with the Jonas Brothers.

Somerlyn did not want to tell the brothers her dream of becoming a musician because she wanted their relationship to be based solely on friendship. However, one day she saw Kevin Jonas in a recording studio and her secret was revealed. After hearing Somerlyn at a rehearsal, the Jonas Brothers’ father, Paul Kevin Jonas Sr., became her manager.

Somerlyn went to Creative Artists Agency, a talent agency in Los Angeles, and they became her agents. With CAA as her agents, Somerlyn received her first big break; she went on her first tour with Big Time Rush.

After touring with her friends and fellow musicians Big Time Rush, Somerlyn opened for the Jonas Brothers for three shows in California and again went on tour with Big Time Rush in South America before touring with Jessie J., one of her inspirations, in the U.K.
