‘Who’s The Boss’ Star Danny Pintauro Undergoes Emergency Surgery After A Nearly Fatal Scooter Accident

Who’s The Boss? star Danny Pintauro has undergone emergency surgery after a severe scooter accident. 

Pintauro took to Instagram on Dec. 1 to reveal that he had been hospitalized following the incident that occurred on the night of Thanksgiving. His post showed several photos of the actor bruised and wrapped in bandages in a hospital bed. 

“The bike lane I was riding in was suddenly blocked with cones, and I was forced to choose between a van and a pylon,” Pintauro said in the caption of the shared post. “The pylons hurt!! Have a terrible scrape on my arm, and I was pretty convinced I had broken my arm. The next morning, it was a whole lot better, so l didn’t worry as much.”

He continued, “It felt like my hiatal hernia was acting up. Before long, the pain was so significant all across my chest and my stomach muscles and my shoulder muscles that I could barely breath. It was the worst moment of my life.” 

The actor explained that he went to the hospital where he was tested which revealed “an infection in my bloodstream due to a tear in my stomach lining — air and stomach acid etc were escaping into my abdomen.”

Pintauro had to have emergency surgery, noting that it “went well, and now that it’s fixed, the pain is pretty much gone away, although I’m very sore.”

The actor described the as “the most excruciating pain l’ve ever felt in my whole life.”

After the procedure, Pintauro announced that the tear is now fixed, saying that the pain he endured has “pretty much gone away.”

Despite the success of the operation, the actor revealed that he remains intubated – not able to eat or drink anything for three days. 

“They always say this but it’s very true, if I had waited any longer, I could have died. My body was the one who told me something was absolutely wrong,” he said. “My body was the one who told me something was absolutely wrong.”

Pintauro asked fans to “keep me in your prayers for the next few days that the repair sticks and that I can get out here soon.”

In 2015, Pintauro made headlines when he came out as HIV-positive.
