The Walking Dead spinoff prequel, currently titled Cobalt, will reportedly be set in Los Angeles.

‘Walking Dead’ Los Angeles

Since The Walking Dead spinoff was first announced, it was said that it would take place outside of Atlanta, Ga., but the new location remained a secret. It’s recently been revealed, however, that Cobalt will take place in LA, according to TV Line. It’s unknown if the prequel will actually film in Los Angeles when shooting begins in 2015, or if the actors will film in Vancouver.

“Almost from the beginning of The Walking Dead (which is set in Atlanta), fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world,” AMC President Charlie Collier noted in September during the announcement.

So far, Cliff Curtis (Gang Related, Sunshine), Frank Dillane (who played Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm) have all been tapped for parts in Cobalt.  Curtis has been cast as the male lead Sean Cabrera, while Dillane and Debnam were tapped to play siblings, and children to the sweet but tough Nancy, who has yet to be cast.

Robert Kirkman, who created The Walking Dead comic series, created Cobalt and is co-writing the series with Dave Erikson. Adam Davidson is directing.
