SNL spoofs Trump-Kanye White House meeting, with Chris Redd playing West and Alec Baldwin as Trump (Image: NBC)
Saturday Night Live parodied President Donald Trump‘s meeting with Kanye West in the Oval Office for its opening sketch over the weekend, and hilariously mocked both men.
Alec Baldwin returned as Trump, while second-year SNL cast member Chris Redd played rapper West.
Kenan Thompson played football legend Jim Brown — who also visited the White House last week — in the skit.
“Thank you all for joining us today for this important discussion,” Baldwin’s Trump began. “It’s in no way a publicity stunt. This is a serious, private conversation between three friends, plus 50 reporters with cameras.”
After Trump praised West, Redd said, as the rapper, that he “flew” to the White House “using the power of this hat,” and pointed to his red “Make America Great Again” cap.
Redd’s West then went on to discuss several of the crazy topics the “We Got Love” singer actually talked about in Thursday’s widely reported meeting: Air Force One and planes, Superman, the 13th Amendment — which West called a “trap door” for African-Americans — and other things.

Trump was left speechless for several minutes during West’s long rant last week, something SNL spoofed. As Redd’s West droned on about all of the aforementioned subjects, Baldwin’s Trump’s thoughts were revealed via voice-over.
“Oh, this guy might be cuckoo,” Baldwin’s Trump said. “I’ve been in rooms with Dennis Rodman and Kim Jong Un and they made a lot more sense than him.”
Trump then went on to realize West was simply the black version of himself, personality-wise.
“He doesn’t stop. He doesn’t listen to anyone but himself. Who does he remind me of?” Baldwin is shown asking himself. “Oh my god, he’s black me!”
Meanwhile, Thompson’s Brown simply looked bewildered and uncomfortable the entire time.
“Oh, my lord, what have I gotten myself into?” Thompson’s inner thoughts revealed, also via voice-over. “I played football with a leather helmet and my brain is still working better than his.”
“So in conclusion, 13th Amendment, Chi-Raq, trap doors lead to the Unabomber, male energy, Trump is my dad, Hillary [Clinton]’s a woman and the media needs to start making this President look good,” Redd’s West said at the end of his speech.
He and Baldwin’s Trump hugged — just as the pair really did last week — and then Baldwin finished off by saying: “I love you Kanye. We have a lot more in common than people know. We’re both geniuses, we’re both married to beautiful women and we both definitely have been recorded saying the ‘n-word.'”
The meeting between Trump and West was also mocked on SNL’s “Weekend Update” segment by co-anchors Colin Jost, Michael Che and host Seth Meyers, a former cast member of the show.
