‘Saturday Night Live’ Teases Guests For 40th Anniversary Show: Eddie Murphy, Bill Hader And More To Return
Saturday Night Live has released three promos for their 40th anniversary show, teasing appearances by a huge batch of famous guest stars and SNL alums, including Eddie Murphy.
Eddie Murphy Will Return To SNL After 30 Years
Murphy, who briefly served as a cast member on Saturday Night Live for four years, from 1980 to 1984, and is one of the most famous alums who has not returned on the show since leaving. After 30 years of waiting, fans will finally get to see Murphy reclaim the SNL stage. “They’re actually having a 40th anniversary I think in two weeks. I’m going to that, and that’ll be the first time I’ve been back since I left,” Murphy revealed in a recent interview.

Other famous former cast members are set to return. SNL has confirmed appearances by Murphy, Chevy Chase, Jimmy Fallon, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Martin Short, Tina Fey, Molly Shannon, Mike Myers, Andy Samberg, Bill Murray, Amy Poehler, Dana Carvey, Kristen Wiig, Dan Akroyd, Chris Rock, Garrett Morris, Fred Armisen, Jane Curtin, Bill Hader, Norm MacDonald, Seth Meyers, Laraine Newman, David Spade, Jason Sudeikis and Maya Rudolph.
Celebrity guests include Steve Martin, Emma Stone, Kanye West, Betty White, Justin Timberlake, Kerry Washington, Christopher Walken, Taylor Swift, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney, Melissa McCarthy, Tom Hanks, Derek Jeter, Peyton Manning, James Franco, Zach Galifianakis, Jon Hamm, Alec Baldwin, Jim Carrey, Robert De Niro, Paul Rudd, Jack Nicholson and Jerry Seinfeld.
It should be noted that the teasers suggest that all the celebrities mentioned would appear on the show, the exact nature of the special remains unclear. SNL is rumored to announce more guests in the weeks leading up to the “SNL 40” special, which will air Sunday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
