In Revolution’s second season premiere, “Born in the USA,” Charlie goes after Monroe and Aaron dies.

Revolution kicked off Season 2 six months after the bombings of Philadelphia and Atlanta in the Season 1 finale. The country (or continent) is in complete chaos – the Plain Nations are attacking small towns and The Patriots (who insist they come to reinstate the President of the United States) arrive from Cuba and land at Tom Neville’s (Giancarlo Esposito) front door.

Neville, believing his wife Julia (Kim Raver) died in the bombings, has lost his purpose and even contemplated suicide before his son Jason (JD Pardo) was able to convince him to live. The new threat of The Patriots certainly works to bring the old, ruthless, Tom Neville back. Tom is immediately suspicious of Secretary Justine Allenford, who informs him that The Patriots plan on taking back the White House, bringing the President back to the U.S.A. and declared that she had proof that Monroe and Foster had launched the bombs. Neville’s response: “I am going to rip them apart from the inside until they are begging me to die.”

Miles (Billy Burke), meanwhile, is struggling with Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Gene (Stephen Collins). Consumed by guilt, Rachel is depressed and begins writing frantically in a journal. Her father, Gene, is trying to take care of her, and gives Miles a stern talking to. Gene hits at an affair the two had when Rachel was married to Ben – could Miles be Charlie’s biological father?

Family drama coupled with a bloody mystery (Miles was seen walking out of a shed with blood on his hand and lighting the shed on fire) push Miles out of Willoughby. He barely makes it out of town when he sees a group of Plains Nation militia getting ready for attack. Miles tries to warn Sheriff Mason (Adam Beach) about the incoming invasion, but Mason doesn’t take him seriously. The two end up fighting against the war tribe together, and are both captured and taken to the tribe leader, Titus Andover.

Miles’ niece (daughter?), Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos), also finds herself in a tricky situation when she goes after General Monroe (David Lyons) on her own, desperate to kill him. She tracks him to New Vegas, where Monroe, using the alias ‘Jimmy,’ is hiding out, participating in a cage fighting ring. After bribing someone to get her in a room with Monroe, Charlie is ready to shoot the evil General when two mysterious men knock Monroe out and escape with him.

Meanwhile, Aaron (Zak Orth) is considering the consequences of what happened at The Tower after he sees a strange group of fireflies, all swarming together.

Animals are acting strange, Aaron says, but Rachel doesn’t want to hear it. So, Aaron goes to his new girlfriend Cynthia, only to be attacked. In his efforts to save her, Aaron is killed. Aaron lies dead for a few hours and then, with a gasp, is magically resurrected.

Revolution airs Wednesdays on NBC at 9 p.m.
