Royal brothers Prince William and Prince Harry made a rare joint appearance at their uncle’s funeral, though they studiously avoided each other throughout the service.

The princes attended the funeral of Lord Robert Fellowes on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church in Snettisham, Norfolk. Fellowes, who died on July 29 at age 82, was the brother-in-law of the late Princess Diana and served in various secretarial roles for Queen Elizabeth II.

Despite earlier reports suggesting Prince Harry would not attend due to security concerns, both brothers were present at the service. The princes sat separately at the back of the church and did not speak to each other.

This marks the first time the princes have been in the same room since their father King Charles III’s coronation over a year ago, underscoring the ongoing strain in their relationship.

Recent reports indicate that tensions between the brothers remain high. Prince William allegedly avoids communication with his younger brother and detests Prince Harry’s public discussions about their late mother. The Prince of Wales is also reportedly opposed to Harry’s presence at his future coronation.

Despite these tensions, there are hints of a potential reconciliation. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle hope to have a truce following the announcement of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment.

Some royal watchers also interpret Prince Harry’s decision not to update the paperback edition of his memoir Spare as a potential olive branch.
