Three abortion-rights activists protested during a service at Joel Osteen’s Texas megachurch. As churchgoers were sitting after an initial prayer, the women stood and stripped to their underwear. They also began shouting “My body, my f––king choice!”

The three women wore white sports bras with green painted hand-prints on them. Green is the color of the pro-choice movement. The group they represent is Texas Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights, which uploaded several videos of the protest online that quickly went viral.

The demonstrators were quickly escorted off the premises to jeers from the crowd. They continued protesting outside the massive megachurch property. One of the protestors captured in the above video explained the reasoning for disrupting the church service in another clip. “Christians are not afraid to bother us at healthcare clinics, at doctor’s offices trying to get essential healthcare,” she said passionately.

A demonstrator, Julianne D’Eredita told KPRC 2 “Joel Osteen has an international audience and silence is violence when it comes to things like this. We have a very unprecedented and very short amount of time to garner the attention that we need to get millions of people on the street, millions of people doing actions like we were today.”

These protests were a clear response to the Supreme Court draft opinion which leaked last month. It showed that the court could vote to repeal Roe v. Wade and has the necessary votes to do so. The opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alito, read in part, “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
