After reports earlier this week said that Mel Gibson was slated to make a cameo in The Hangover 2, director Todd Phillips confirmed late yesterday that Gibson will not appear in the movie, according to the New York Post's Page 6 column.

Cast members, including stars Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and Ed Helms, were outraged by Gibson's inclusion in the film. "I thought Mel would have been great in the movie, and I had the full backing of [Warner Bros president] Jeff Robinov and his team," Phillips said. "But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."

Liam Neeson will replace Gibson in the role of a tattoo artist in Thailand. "I just got a call to do a one-day shoot on Hangover 2 as a tattooist in Thailand, and that's all I know about it," Neeson told People. The actor reportedly left New York for the Hangover 2 set yesterday. –ISHITA SINGH
