Matt Damon Trolls Jimmy Kimmel After Emmy Loss

Emmy host and late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel was trolled onstage last night by long-time rival jokester Matt Damon.

While Kimmel hosted the 2016 Emmy Awards on Sunday, his show was also nominated for Outstanding Variety Talk Series. And after losing to John Oliver, Kimmel of course had to continue with the hosting gig. Damon took this opportunity to prank his foe onstage.

“I missed the last category,” Damon says, triumphantly eating an apple. “Did you win?”

The duo’s feud began 11 years ago because of an unplanned joke on Kimmel’s show. He told the crowd, mostly for his producer’s amusement, that they were sorry but had run out of time for Matt Damon, who was not even supposed to appear that night. The joke continued every night for the season, and has since turned into a full-out joke-filled beef between the celebrities. The ongoing gag goes back and forth, from Kimmel finally inviting Damon on the show for real, only to have the fire alarm mysteriously go off when it was Damon’s turn to talk, to Damon creating a spoof attack ad on Kimmel for his vice presidential campaign.

“This is so humiliating, I’m sorry,” Damon continued. “I mean, you lost and now you have to stand out here for the rest of the night in front of everybody… when you probably just wanna go home and curl up and cry.” Damon then implores the crowd, “Can we cheer Jimmy up? He’s a big loser…how about a round of applause for the big loser.”

The Emmys is just the latest upset in the Kimmel-Damon feud, and Damon got the last word. “Tell your mom I like them apples,” he said as he strolled off stage.
