Matt Damon finally got his revenge on Jimmy Kimmel, taking over Jimmy Kimmel Live from the incumbent host who had bumped the movie star from 1,205 shows with the mocking phrase, “Apologies to Matt Damon, we ran out of time.” After being perpetually bumped from the late night program, Damon kidnapped Kimmel and took the reins, even going so far as to rename the show Jimmy Kimmel Sucks.

The episode opened with grainy footage of Damon talking into a handheld camera, cackling and then panning over to Kimmel, who was tied up to a chair and being gagged with his tie.

“We ran out of time,” Damon said in a sinister voice. “We ran out of time. Oh, that’s pretty funny. That’s pretty funny. But tonight, you didn’t run out of time for me did you Jimmy? No, no I ran out of time for you.”

As part of his takeover, Damon replaced Kimmel’s usual sidekick Guillermo with Andy Garcia and also managed to recruit Sheryl Crow to lead the band. Even Ben Affleck found the time to hold the cue-cards for Damon.

Of course, Damon knew he wasn’t an expert talk show host, so to help with his monologue he employed the services of none other than Robin Williams.

The eventful episode also featured Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez, Sally Field, John Krasinkski, Robert De Niro, Don Cheadle, Emily Blunt, Greg Kinnear, Gary Oldman, Amy Adams, Reese Witherspoon, Demi Moore and Sarah Silverman, with whom he had shared a long fictional love triangle with Kimmel in the past.

Oh, and in case you were wondering what was the source of Kimmel and Damon’s decade-long spat? "Jimmy always wanted to be an actor and, unfortunately for him, I beat him out for every role he ever truly wanted,” Damon said. “Jimmy has auditioned for every movie I've ever been in, every single one of them. How many did he get? None. So, he hates me."

Jimmy Kimmel Live recently switched time slots and now airs weekdays on ABC at 11:35 EST.
