Mariah Carey No-Show At Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Taping, Makes It To Live Show
Mariah Carey disappointed fans and enraged NBC executives on Tuesday when she failed to show up at the pre-taping of the network’s annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lighting.
Mariah Carey A No-Show
Carey, infamous for her tardiness, was scheduled for a pre-taping Tuesday night, complete with a crowd. However, after three hours passed without Carey showing up, NBC was forced to tell those waiting to see the singer to head home.
“The diva was supposed to pre-tape her performance of Christmas songs like she’s done before. The show is live Wednesday, but producers have learned their lesson with her over the years and that they must pre-tape her. She always shows up late,” a source told the New York Daily News.
“Her camp kept saying she was ten minutes away, which was technically true because her hotel, The Palace Hotel, where she was staying, is about a 10-minute ride away from 30 Rock,” the sourced added. “But she was not en route!”

Following her failure to appear, Carey took to Twitter to apologize to her fans and to promise her presence at the live show.
Last night’s situation was beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up, you know that I would never want to disappoint you.
