‘Affectionate’ Kevin Spacey Says ‘Grabbing A Crotch’ Is ‘Generally Not A First Move’ At Sexual Assault Trial In London

During his second day in a sexual assault trial, Kevin Spacey told the court that the accuser had “made up his entire story from beginning to end.”

Spacey has been accused of grabbing the man’s crotch “like a cobra” when the two met in the 2000s at a West End theater. In addition to this, he allegedly made a “barrage of vile comments” at the man.

While on the witness stand, Spacey stated that he believes the prosecution’s entire case is “weak” and maintained that the victim is lying.

When asked why the victim would lie, Spacey replied with, “money, money and then money,” and then added, “and I also believe he has for whatever reason, anger towards me.”

He further commented, “I mean, maybe I wasn’t as lovely to him as he would have hoped if we met on that day and maybe he was upset about other things with respect to my sexuality.”

“I do not accept a single word that comes out of his mouth,” the actor said on the stand.

During questioning by the prosecution, Christine Agnew inquired if a “crotch grab” was an action that Spacey would “normally do to someone you had met for the first time.”

Spacey replied with a firm “no.” Agnew continued to question if this method had worked for Spacey in the past or if it was his “trademark.” Again, Spacey similarly responded, “No,” and added, “Let me put it this way, it is the term ‘grabbing a crotch’ or ‘groping a crotch’ that I object to.”

Agnew then asked the actor if he believed that grabbing someone’s crotch was an “appropriate” first move, to which he answered, “That’s generally not a first move.”

He asserted that this is not the type of behavior he exhibits with people he doesn’t know, but is an “affectionate person” who may hug someone after a “first move.”

He claimed that he does not have typical first moves and that “every encounter that we have as humans, that I have had, is unique. The circumstance is unique, the person is unique, and how we have interacted is unique. I can’t give you a sort of rundown of what always happens, it’s always different.”

Spacey has admitted to having misread signs from another man, which resulted in that man rejecting Spacey’s alleged sexual grab.

He stated that the other interactions he had with two other men were all consensual. These men are denying this assertion – one is claiming that he was “drugged” by Spacey, and the other says he was sexually assaulted by him.

Spacey has said that the allegations against him are “completely wrong and upsetting” and has denied attempting to silence the complainant.

He pleaded not guilty to the accusations against him, including 12 counts of sexual offenses.
