Kevin Spacey is currently facing sexual assault charges in London over allegations that are two decades old.

The jury, which consists of nine men and five women, that was selected to hear his case was officially sworn in on Wednesday, which was the first day of his trial.

Spacey was spotted outside of London’s Southwark Crown Court two hours before the court case wearing a navy suit and light blue dress shirt.

At the beginning of the case, Spacey was asked if his name is if he was Kevin Spacey Fowler to which he replied “yes.”

Justice Mark Wall introduced Spacey to the judges saying, “I am sure the defendant will be gratified to know that many of you will know his name or have seen his films.”

The opening statements will begin on Friday and the trial will last up to four weeks. Spacey is currently out on bail.

The actor pleaded not guilty to the dozen charges which accused him of indecent and sexual assault and forcing a person to engage in non-consensual sexual activity.

If Spacey is found guilty, he could face a prison sentence.

Spacey’s career has been on hold in light of the allegations. He hopes that if he is found not guilty then his career could be revived.

“There are people right now who are ready to hire me the moment I am cleared of these charges in London,” Spacey told Germany’s Zeit magazine in an interview.

He claims that the media has twisted his actions and portrayed him as a “monster.”

The accusers are four different men who are in their 30s to 40s and the alleged assaults occurred from 2001 to 2003. This is when Spacey was living in Britain and working at the prestigious Old Vic Theatre as its artistic director.

He was first accused during the #MeToo movement, which led to him losing his role on the hit Netflix show House of Cards. He had the lead role as Frank Underwood, who was the president of the United States on the show.

He also lost his role in the film All the Money in the World. Spacey had already completed filming the movie, but all his scenes were reshot with his replacement, Christopher Plummer

Throughout his career, Spacey has been nominated for 92 various awards and has won 59 of those. This includes two Oscars, one BAFTA Award, four Screen Actors Guild Awards and one Golden Globe.
