Jonathan Majors Dropped By Marvel & Disney After Guilty Verdict In Assault Case

Hours after the jury found actor Jonathan Majors guilty of one misdemeanor charge and one harassment violation, Disney and Marvel have decided to cut ties with the actor. 

Majors’ charges stem from a March confrontation with his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, who said he attacked her in a car and left her in “excruciating” pain.

Jabbari accused Majors of several different assaults, including hitting her on the head with an open hand, twisting her arm behind her back and squeezing one of her fingers until it fractured.

Despite being found guilty of several assault charges, Majors was acquitted of a different assault charge and aggravated harassment.

The trial was a catalyst for Majors’ massive downfall in Hollywood. He played the villain Kang the Conqueror in the MCU. Before that, he also had significant roles in Creed III, Lovecraft Country and The Harder They Fall.

Majors’ lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, said in a statement that he “still has faith in the process and looks forward to fully clearing his name.” 

“Mr. Majors is grateful to God, his family, his friends and his fans for their love and support during these harrowing eight months,” Chaudhry said.

Prosecutor Kelli Gallaway, however, did not have any sympathy for Majors.

“This is not a revenge plot to ruin the defendant’s life or his career. You were asked why you are here? Because domestic violence is serious,” Gallaway said during her closing arguments. 

After the verdict was announced, Marvel and Disney officially cut ties with the actor. 

Majors’ sentencing is set for February 6. He could face up to a year in prison.
