The 41-year-old pop-rock singer-songwriter released his most recent album, The Search for Everything, in April 2017. Last year, he released a single called New Light.

Over the weekend, Mayer’s controversial comments about his 2009 breakup from actress Jennifer Aniston — who turned 50 last week — resurfaced. The singer, a Connecticut native, had suggested at the time in an interview with Playboy that the Friends alum was too old for him.

“I’ll always be sorry that it didn’t last,” Mayer said of his short relationship with Aniston at the time. “In some ways I wish I could be with her. But I can’t change the fact that I need to be 32.”

He continued: “If Jennifer Aniston knows how to use BitTorrent, I’ll eat my fucking shoe,” he then added of their different approaches to technology. “One of the most significant differences between us was that I was tweeting. There was a rumor that I had been dumped because I was tweeting too much. That wasn’t it, but that was a big difference.”
