Kansas prosecutors have dismissed three felony charges against Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes II.

At Jackson’s hearing, three of the felony charges relating to the sexual battery were dropped, while a fourth charge of misdemeanor battery remained. The court’s reasoning was mainly due to a lack of cooperation from the accuser.

Brandan Davies, Mahomes’ lawyer, issued a statement in reaction to the dropped charges: “[He] has done nothing wrong. We had full confidence that the truth of the matter would ultimately be revealed.”

The original charges accused Mahomes of shoving a waiter at a restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas. The owner of the restaurant, Aspen Vaughn, claimed that she was grabbed by the throat and forcefully kissed three different times by Jackson.

Prosecutors said there was video footage that confirmed the encounter.

Jackson was arrested in May for the incident by the Johnson County Sheriff’s office and was released later that day.

A jury trial is still set to take place on March 25 over the misdemeanor charge that was not dropped.

Britney Mahomes, Patrick’s wife, came to the defense of her brother-in-law after he was charged.

Jackson has not shied away from the spotlight – in January 2023, he was criticized for doing a TikTok dance during his brother’s Super Bowl win interview.
