Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce is under fire for continuing to party after Wednesday’s mass shooting in Kansas City, Missouri.

The shooting happened during a parade to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win. Roughly 30 people were injured, some in critical condition and one woman is dead as a result of the incident. At least nine children suffered gunshot wounds.

Kelce and his fellow teammates, including Patrick Mahomes, went to The Granfaloon Restaurant And Bar in Kansas City after the parade for a party planned by Mahomes.

Kelce was spotted taking selfies with police officers outside of the restaurant while he was intoxicated.

Fans expressed their outrage at the team for celebrating while people were in hospitals. Kelce and Mahomes expressed their condolences for the victims on X.

“I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today,” Kelce wrote. “My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.”

Some users called for Kelce to use his platform to call for gun control in light of the shooting. Other fans defended Kelce, saying the team deserved to celebrate their win and had no association with the shooters.

Kansas City’s mayor delivered a speech hours after the shooting saying parades may be banned next year to prevent another tragedy.

Three suspects were taken into custody after the shooting, but no one has been formally charged yet.

Radio DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan has been identified as the only person to die as a result of the shooting. Eight others remain in critical condition in the hospital.
