Ivanka Trump’s name was brought into debates about abortion rights this past weekend when a prominent Manhattan socialite accused her of receiving an abortion in high school.

She has referred to herself as “unapologetically” pro-life in a 2020 interview with RealClearPolitics. Former Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards once said that Trump and her husband Jared Kushner once offered her an alleged “bribe” of federal funding for the women’s health organization if it stopped providing abortions while they were White House employees in 2018.

Ivanka was a top aide to her father Donald Trump, who laid the groundwork for the recent Roe V. Wade reversal with several appointees of conservative Justices to the Supreme Court during his presidency including Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.

The claim was written in a now-deleted tweet by fashion entrepreneur and New York socialite Lauren Santo Domingo, who commented that Trump was “noticeably quiet,” on the day the reversal was announced, and added, “The high school friends who took you to get an abortion are not.”

Trump and Santo Domingo have been friends in the past and were photographed attending high society New York City events like the Met Gala together. They are also only a year apart in age, and both attended private boarding schools in Connecticut for much of their high school education.

Santo Domingo did not disclose whether she was one of the friends directly involved in this alleged abortion, and when she deleted the tweet it was reposted by the iconic actress Bette Midler.
