Glee, in the wake of Cory Monteith’s death, is moving forward with plans to cast two to characters for the Fox musical comedy series' fifth season.

After news of Monteith’s passing broke over the weekend, reports speculated as to how (and when) Glee would continue on with production of the upcoming season. Monteith, who had been with the show since it premiered in 2009, played Finn Hudson – the former high school football player who’d made up his mind to become a teacher. The actor and his character were set to figure prominently in the early episodes of the season.

Casting calls for the two characters had gone out last week, when Monteith was still alive, and the show is still actively searching for actors to fill those roles, reported E! News. One of the roles is for a twentysomething named Jenny, who’s described as “cute and quirky.” The other is for an African American actor to play a high school student who’ll join the McKinley High glee club.

Glee’s production was scheduled to commence at the end of July, with the fifth season premiering on Sept. 19. Due to Montieth’s passing, which is likely to particularly effect his real-life and onscreen love Lea Michele, it’s possible that the schedule could be delayed, though Fox has not made an announcement on the matter.

"Everyone is in shock," a Glee source told E!. "To say that Cory was much loved on the Glee set doesn't even begin to do him justice."
