ABC terminated journalist Terry Moran after he posted on X criticizing President Donald Trump and his advisers.

The network released a statement, saying, “We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post — which was a clear violation of ABC News policies, we have made the decision to not renew.

“At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness, and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism.”

Before this incident, Moran was suspended on June 8 after sharing the scathing social media post about Stephen Miller, the president’s homeland security advisor and deputy chief of staff for policy.

The since-deleted post called Miller and Trump “world-class hater[s].”

“Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater. You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate,” Moran wrote.

Miller’s wife, Katie, has been in the news lately for her odd position working for Musk amid his feud with Trump.

“Trump is a world-class hater,” he continued. “But his hatred is only a means to an end, and that end is his own glorification [sic]. That’s his spiritual nourishment.”

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X in response, “This is unhinged and unacceptable. We have reached out to @ABC to inquire about how they plan to hold Terry accountable.”

Soon after, ABC News announced Moran had “been suspended pending further evaluation.”

The network also added that it “stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks on others. The post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards.”

This is not the first clash between Moran and Trump.

Last month, Moran interviewed the president in the Oval Office for a special broadcast marking Trump’s first 100 days in office of his second term.

They discussed various topics, from the economy to immigration and foreign policy, and Trump revealed that Moran was selected for the interview because he had never heard of him.

The topic switched to Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the man mistakenly deported to El Salvador in March, and Trump insisted that an edited image of Abrego Garcia’s alleged MS-13 tattoos was genuine.

Moran pointed out the president’s error and tried to “move on” with the interview, but Trump interjected immediately with “Wait a minute. Hey, Terry. Terry. Terry. Don’t do that.”

“That was Photoshopped?” Trump said. “Terry, you can’t do that. They’ve given you the big break of a lifetime. You know, you’re doing the interview.”

“I picked you because, frankly, I had never heard of you, but that’s OK,” he continued. “But I picked you, Terry, but you’re not being very nice. He had ‘MS-13’ tattooed. Terry. Terry. Do you want me to show you the picture?”

Moran announced in a video on X that he was moving to Substack.

“For almost 28 years, I was a reporter and anchor for ABC News. And as you may have heard, I’m not there anymore,” he said. “I’m here with you on Substack, this amazing space, and I can’t wait to get at it. To get at the important work that we all have to do in this time of such trouble for our country.”

Moran assured fans that he would still “be reporting and interviewing and just sharing with you, and hoping to hear from you as well.”

He did note that it might “be a few days” or “maybe a little bit longer” since he has “to get some stuff sorted out.”

Even after being fired by ABC, Moran says he doesn’t regret his words. “I don’t think you should ever regret telling the truth,” he told the New York Times. “And I don’t.”
