Disgraced ‘Flash’ Star Ezra Miller Gives Strange Interview About Possible Hollywood Return

Ezra Miller, 32, posed on the red carpet for the first time in two years at the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival in Cagliari, Italy, on Thursday and told Italian outlet Lo Speciale Giornale that their relationship to the cinema these days is “on tentative grounds.”

After being spotted in Cannes, Miller gave a peculiar interview in which they addressed their return to Hollywood and what prompted their visit to France. Miller claimed, “I came to Cannes to support one of my closest friends in the world, Lynne Ramsey — who I think is one of the greatest living filmmakers,” they said. Ramsey previously directed Miller in 2011’s We Need to Talk About Kevin.

On Miller’s “tentative” return to Hollywood, they commented that an unnamed film they’re currently writing with Ramsey “will likely be the first thing [they do].” The actor also mentioned that they’ve been doing a lot of writing, but that “you can do that in solitude… which has been friendly to me.”

Things went downhill for Miller in 2022, when they was memorably arrested and charged in Hawaii following two alleged incidents at a karaoke bar in March 2022, to which they pleaded no contest. Then, they were hit with a restraining order by two residents claiming Miller harassed and threatened them, which was later dropped.

A month later, the Perks of Being a Wallflower star was arrested on a second-degree assault charge after they allegedly threw a chair and hit a woman during an encounter at a private residence. Also, in 2022, a parent accused Miller of grooming their child from the age of 12, and another parent came forward the same month. However, no charges related to the allegations were filed against Miller.

Miller addressed this period of their life. “When we go through those crucibles, if we can survive, which was up in the air for me if I’m being real, we then have that capacity to see other people in their crucibles and just to reach towards them,” they said.
