Following the largely negative reviews of her September 2024 album 143, pop star Katy Perry’s relationship with her partner, Orlando Bloom, has reportedly become tense.

Perry and Bloom started dating in 2016 and had a strobe-light romance for years before they were engaged in 2019. Originally planning to get married in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed their nuptials, and neither Perry nor Bloom has commented on plans for a ceremony or marriage status since. The two share a 4-year-old daughter, Daisy.

An inside source recently told People, “Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album…it made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension.”

Another source shared, “She was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It’s put stress on their relationship.”

Although 143 was an indisputable flop, Perry has had no problem selling concert tickets to her Lifetimes world tour, and since it kicked off in April, she has added extra dates to several shows that sold out. Perry will be coming to the States for the North American leg of her tour, set to start in Denver in early July.

In the statement announcing the album, Perry articulated at the time that her goal was to create “a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message.”

143, which refers to the number of letters in the phrase “I love you,” was declared by critics to be a “devastating” failure for Perry.

Perry has faced a wave of backlash in the last few months for her trip to space in the Blue Origin spaceflight, accompanied by several other women.

Although internet users continue to bash Perry extensively, the “I Kissed a Girl” singer has remained a confident advocate for herself, defending her music and decisions on social media.
