Elijah Wood Rumored To Star In Reboot Of ‘The Toxic Avenger’
This week, rumors started to surface about Elijah Wood may be joining the main cast for the upcoming movie The Toxic Avenger, which will serve as a reboot for the 1984 superhero black comedy splatter film of the same name directed by Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman. The original Toxic Avenger movie has become something of a cult classic, as the low-budget comedy film has turned into a franchise following the original movie’s success. It has spawned three more sequels, a comic book series an animated television series aimed at children, titled Toxic Crusaders, a video game and a stage musical production in 2008. The reboot will be written and directed by Macon Blair. Kaufman, who was one of the two directors of the original film stated that he has read the script and believes that it is even better than the script from the 1984 film.
The reboot of The Toxic Avenger will star Peter Dinklage as the title character. Other actors such as Taylour Paige and Jacob Tremblay will also appear in the upcoming reboot. Best known for his role as Frodo Baggins, the main character of the Lord of the Rings trilogy directed by Peter Jackson, Wood has been rumored to star in the upcoming Toxic Avenger reboot alongside Dinklage, Tremblay and Paige. While it has not been officially confirmed, Wood is reported to be portraying the character Bob Garbinger, the head of the corrupt company Garb X and the former boss of Melvin Ferd III/The Toxic Avenger. Wood’s character is said to be the main antagonist of the upcoming reboot.
