Donald Trump Criticized For Dinner With Kanye West & White Supremacist Nick Fuentes

On Tuesday night, former President Donald Trump entertained both Kanye West and white supremacist Nick Fuentes at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

Fuentes has gained a reputation from his podcast and attendance at alt-right rallies like one in February where he praised Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Fuentes has also been called out for his belief in “The White Genocide,” a concept floated by many in far-right groups.

The dinner at Mar-a-Lago comes a week after Trump announced he would be once again be running for President.

The former president went to his social media platform to discuss the night’s events. “This past week, Kanye West called me to have dinner at Mar-a-Lago. Shortly thereafter, he unexpectedly showed up with three of his friends, whom I knew nothing about. We had dinner on Tuesday evening with many members present on the back patio. The dinner was quick and uneventful. They then left for the airport.”

Trump’s recollection of the “uneventful” dinner has been contradicted by West and Fuentes. West discussed the dinner while announcing his own presidential campaign. In the video posted to Twitter, West talked to former alt-right journalist Milo Yiannopoulos, known for his pushing of gay conversion therapy and his work with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia).

According to West, Trump started “screaming” when asked if he would act as his running mate. West discussed how “impressed” Trump was with Fuentes.

Although Trump claimed to have not known Fuentes, the podcaster was reportedly at the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 insurrection and has been issued a subpoena by the investigating committee. 

Fuentes suggested that the former President was lying, saying on his podcast, “I don’t know if I’m gonna say he didn’t know me. I’m not sure about that.”

The White House denounced the dinner between Trump, Fuentes and West.

“Bigotry, hate, and antisemitism have absolutely no place in America – including at Mar-A-Lago,” a White House statement read.

Following suit were many Republicans. Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) called the events at Mar-a-Lago, “Empowering the extremes.”

Not long after the dinner, Fuentes seemingly changed his tune on the MAGA movement’s founder.

“Conservative media speculates that Ye and I are being used to hurt Trump. It is the other way around,” Fuentes said, adding how he believes Trump and other candidates like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are the “moderates” of the party.

In the aftermath of the dinner, Trump has remained consistent with his social media posts claiming that he did not know the far-right podcaster, however, the ex-President has yet to denounce antisemitism from West or Fuentes.
