David Cassidy, ‘Partridge Family’ Star, Hospitalized In Critical Condition In A Coma
David Cassidy, the Partridge Family star, has been hospitalized in critical condition and has been placed in a medically induced coma, as his organs are shutting down, his rep confirms.
Cassidy was rushed to a hospital in Florida a few days ago and his condition has been consistently getting worse. According to reports, his kidneys are failing and he needs a liver transplant soon or he could die.
In February, the 67-year-old Cassidy made his battle with dementia public and announced that he would be retiring from touring as a musician to focus more on his health. During an interview with People, Cassidy admitted, “I was in denial, but a part of me always knew this coming,” as he revealed that his mother and grandfather also suffered from the degenerative brain disease.
After being forced to share his diagnosis after concert footage showed him falling on stage, slurring his speech and struggling to recall song lyrics he had been performing for decades, he wanted to set the record straight. He had previously struggles with alcoholism, which many mistook the incident during the concert as a possible relapse. Cassidy told Dr. Phill McGraw, “I wasn’t drunk,” then added, “When friends of yours or family members begin to say to you ‘Remember I just told you this two days ago,’ and there’s no memory of it. That’s when I began to be very concerned.”
Cassidy made an appearance on Dr. Phil where he told his son, “I want you to promise me you’ll find a way to let me go and don’t let me live like that.”
