After his son’s accidental drug overdose last year, Dana Carvey has finally opened up about his journey after his loss.

After a hiatus from his podcast Fly On The Wall with David Spade, Carvey finally returned to the show explaining that his journey of loss was a private one. He went on to say, “We’re all together, and we do a lot of fun things. We hike, we go to church. You just want to make sure that you keep moving.”

While sharing about his grief, he also commented that coming back onto the show would be “healthy” as he recovers from the situation.

Dex Carvey, 32, was discovered dead in his L.A. home, locked in his bathroom, on November 15th, 2023. Dana and his wife, Paula Zwagerman, revealed later in a social media post that the cause of death was an accidental drug overdose.

The couple also posted an additional statement saying that “Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things — music, art, filmmaking, comedy — and pursued all of them passionately… To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.”

As the comedian and Saturday Night Live star and his family get through their journey with loss, they continue to use their platform to raise awareness for those who struggle with addiction.

In 2019, Dana Carvey and Mike Myers had a mini Wayne’s World reunion while announcing at the Oscars.
