Originally established in 1970, Earth Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide that rallies people to the protection of our environment, which is constantly being threatened by pollution and global warming.
Yet, five decades since the first Earth Day, green house emissions have shot up to 414 parts per million, a shocking change in carbon dioxide levels that hasn’t been this high in millions of years. If we don’t act soon and cut carbon emissions in half by 2030, there could be permanent damage to the environment.
Many celebrities have heard the call and are using their platform in the fight to protect the planet. Here’s just a brief sampling of what they’re saying.
