After facing disastrous sound issues during Nicki Minaj‘s guest appearance for Ariana Grande‘s weekend one Coachella set, the “Sweetener” singer brought out Justin Bieber for her weekend two closing set.
After a heated performance of “Break Free” and “No Tears Left to Cry,” Grande brought Bieber out to the stage.
“I wasn’t going to bring out any guests tonight,” said Grande. “But my friend Justin Bieber came all the way out.”
Bieber, who attended Coachella as a member of the audience, stepped out on stage for the first time in two years and performed “Sorry” to the crowd.
Bieber apparently had no idea that Grande planned this, and wasn’t told he was going to be on stage.

“I had no idea I was going to be on a stage tonight,” Bieber said. “No idea. I wore this fly outfit not knowing I was going to be on stage.”
Judging from the crowd reaction, Bieber hadn’t lost his touch one bit. Bieber thanked Grande and the crowd and announced over the mic, “Album coming soon.”
