‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 8, Episode 2 Recap: Jamie Offers To Help Against Walkers, Arya Hooks Up With Gendry

Last night’s episode of Game of Thrones, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” was a touching episode where the characters spent their final night before the upcoming battle in peace and solace.

Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) has come a long way since pushing Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) to his near-death in the pilot episode. Jaime, who has done a lot of shady things in his past, isn’t looked upon favorably when he offers to join the fight against the White Walkers.

Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Sansa (Sophie Turner), who have been at odds with each other, both agree that Jaime is treacherous. The tension gets even higher when Jaime reveals that Cersei lied about sending help, and is going to march on them when the battle against the Night King is over.

Yet, Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) vouches for Jaime, saying that he has changed, and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) allows Jaime into the fold.

Jaime confronts Bran outside the godswood and he apologies for crippling him. Bran isn’t angry at Jaime, and says that if he hadn’t pushed Bran off the tower, he might not have become the three-eyed raven.

When Jaime asks what  will happen afterwards, Bran creepily replies, “How do you know there is an afterwards?”

Arya (Maisie Williams) asks Gendry (Joe Dempsie) about the White Walkers and how to fight against them. The romantic tension between the two is at a boil.

Daenerys and Sansa try to reconcile their differences, and both of them seem come to an agreement on their affection towards Jon, but when Sansa asks what happens to the North after their battle, tension remains.

Theon (Alfie Allen) returns to Winterfell with a group of Ironborn, and pledges this time to defend Bran and Winterfell. Like Jaime, Theon has changed too.

At the war council, Bran reveals the mark that allows the Night King to track him, and offers to be bait in a ploy to lure the Night King in an ambush in the godswood.

The Night King and his forces are close to approaching Winterfell, and everybody decides to spend their last night alive with someone dear to them.

Gendry reveals to Arya that he’s one of Robert Baratheon’s bastards, and the two make love, as Arya expects she’s going to die in the upcoming battle.

Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), Davos (Liam Cunningham), Tormund (Kristofer Hivju), Podrick (Daniel Portman), Brienne and Jaime reminisce on past battles and how they all got here fighting for the Starks.

The conversation then turns to the topic of women and why they can’t be Knighted. Jaime declares that any knight can knight another, and in an emotional scene, Jaime knights Brienne, fulfilling her dream once and for all.

50 CELEBRITIES WHO DIED IN 2018 – TRIBUTE SLIDESHOW

Daenerys finds Jon in the crypt next to a statue of Lyanna Stark, and Jon reveals the truth of his parentage. Jon has a better claim to the Iron Throne than Daenerys, and when they try to further discuss the issue, the Night King and his army invades.

While this episode may have been the least bloodiest episode in the series, it provides touching moments and a final goodbye to characters who might turn out dead by the end of this conflict.
