Actress Jaime King Loses Custody Of Sons To Ex Kyle Newman After Failing To Complete 6-Month Drug & Alcohol Rehab Program
After failing to complete a six-month drug/alcohol rehab program, actress and model Jaime King has lost custody of her sons.
King’s two sons, James, 11, and Leo, 9, will now live with their dad and King’s ex-husband, Kyle Newman.

Newman and King were married in 2007. King filed for divorce in 2020, along with a restraining order, which she was granted. Not long after, Newman accused King of being a “chronic drug addict and alcoholic.” King and Newman have been embroiled in legal battles since.
Several months ago, Newman requested sole custody of James and Leo, presenting a judge with a petition claiming that King was an unsafe guardian while parenting their children.
While King will still be allowed to see her sons, she is only granted supervised visits with weekly testing and aftercare, a 26-week parenting program, individual counseling to address case issues and joint counseling with minors (when the minors’ therapist deems appropriate). She can see her sons three times a week in one-hour blocks, with approved supervisors present, such as King’s mom, sister and Newman’s brother.
In his filing, Newman recalled an occasion when the boys were in King’s care and called him begging to be picked up. When he arrived at the house, Newman alleged that King was sitting on the floor with two men, “[Not] wearing any pants.”
“Jaime looked distressed, strung out and was acting drunk. She gestured for me to come over to her because she tried to get up but could not stand,” the filing read. Newman said King slurred her words and told Newman about James and Leo, “Those are bad boys. We have to do something about our boys. Their behavior is not right.”
Newman further accused King of using opioids while pregnant with Leo – he remembered how the then-couple was informed at her 20-week prenatal appointment that their unborn child “was also addicted due to her continued drug use.”
He declared, “We found out at that same appointment that Leo…had a congenital heart defect and would need surgery to survive as soon as he was born…I was devastated.”
Newman’s filing also listed occasions where King drove James and Leo while under the influence, scared their sons with her level of intoxication and would abandon them for days at a time to go on benders. He remembered, “At one point, Jaime left Theo at his doctor’s appointment with the nanny, only to be found over a half hour later at the liquor store acres the street buying a bottle of alcohol.”
