In the past week, vigilante heartthrob Luigi Mangione was gifted the biggest donation yet to his defense fund. Mangione’s defense fund, intended to cover his legal bills, has received thousands of small donations from people looking to iterate their support. Though most donations are only a few dollars, earlier this week an anonymous donor splurged, dropping $36,500 in the defense fund.

Mangione made headlines for fatally shooting former UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on December 4 in Midtown Manhattan. After a five-day chase, he was arrested in Pennsylvania when a McDonalds employee he stopped to flirt with turned him in. Since then, Mangione has become something of a public hero for bringing attention to the healthcare crisis in America, along with his good looks.

The mysterious donor accompanied their contribution with a comment, “What intrigues me about this case is how unified folks’ responses are regardless of strata.”

They continued, “In Corporate America, for instance, there has been widespread doubt of potential prosecutorial mishandling and overcharging. I’ve also been surprised at the almost ubiquitous nature of support toward the suspect that would expect to be quite bifurcated in this type of litigation. Quite exceptional.”

Many viewers were quick to note the anonymous donor’s professional language, both praising them as a well-read individual supporting Mangione and making fun of the excessive use of “vocabulary” words.

Donations to Mangione’s fund have taken an uptick recently, likely due to the new rumors of Mangione’s involvement in adult tapes. His largest donation was previously $30,000, sometime earlier last month. With the new record donation, the fund presently sits at $722,000, edging closer to its goal of $1 million.

Mangione has been charged with murder through the use of a firearm, two stalking charges and a firearms offense.
