Justin Bieber’s Rep Denies ‘Salacious’ Rumors Of Return To Drug Use
A representative for Justin Bieber has responded to rumors that the pop star has started taking drugs again.
Earlier this month dark circles under Bieber’s eyes prompted speculation that the singer was on a downward spiral. On an excursion to New York on Feb. 1, Bieber’s tired, sullen exterior fueled rumors that he had slipped back into old bad habits.
A member of Bieber and wife Hailey Bieber’s team put out a statement, denouncing the “salacious” rumors, and declaring them to be “exhausting.”
The statement detailed that Bieber has had a “transformative” last few years, “As he ended several close friendships and business relationships that no longer serve him.” He is currently focusing his energy on his art, Hailey, and the couple’s six-month-old son, Jack Blues.
The rep’s statement further asserted that “despite the obvious truth, people are committed to keeping negative, salacious harmful narratives alive.”
Earlier this month an inside source reported to Us Weekly, “There’s no breakdown…[Bieber] just really doesn’t care what people think.” TMZ reported that the reason Bieber had looked so tired was due to a late-night recording session and the erratic sleep schedule of a new father.
Bieber has been open about his problems with drug use in the past, sharing that there was a period when his bodyguards would regularly check on him throughout the night to make sure he had not overdosed.
In May 2021, Bieber told GQ, “It was like I had all this success and it was still like, ‘I’m still sad and I’m still in pain. And I still have these unresolved issues.’ And I thought all the success was going to make everything good…and so for me, the drugs were a numbing agent to just continue to get through…[I] lost control of my vision for my career.”
