President Joe Biden mocked former president Donald Trump for boasting about how he won two golf trophies during an awards ceremony at the Trump International Golf Club last weekend.

“It is my great honor to be at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach tonight, AWARDS NIGHT, to receive THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY & THE SENIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “I WON BOTH!”

“A large and golfing talented membership, a GREAT and difficult course, made the play very exciting,” he continued. “The qualifying and match play was amazing. A large and distinguished group will be there tonight. Very exciting, thank you!!!”

“Congratulations, Donald,” Biden wrote mockingly on X on March 24. “Quite the accomplishment.

The Trump campaign fired back at the current president in a statement in which they attacked their opponent’s physical capabilities.

“Crooked Joe Biden is jealous because anything he does physically is an embarrassment – whether it is falling off his bike, whiffing on golf balls, or just generally falling on his a– in front of the world,” a spokesperson for the former president said in a statement.

Many on social media mocked Trump’s arrogant behavior, some comparing him to the second Supreme Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Il.

“According to North Korean media, Kim Jong Il scored 11 holes-in-one on his very first round of golf, so Trump has a way to go,” Gideon Rachman, the author of The Age of the Strongman: How the Cult of the Leader Threatens Democracy Around the World, stated on X.

The former Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly, who has known Trump for 30 years, responded to the Truth Social post by challenging him to compete on a golf course that does not take place at one of his properties.

“Call us if you ever win one on a course you DON’T own and operate,” Reilly wrote on X.

Trump’s handicap was self-reported at 2.8. However, the former Sports Illustrated columnist claimed in 2019 that the former president’s handicap was more likely near 10.

“Donald Trump is the worst cheat ever and he doesn’t care who knows,” he told The Guardian. “I always say golf is like bicycle shorts. It reveals a lot about a man. And golf reveals a lot of ugliness in this president.”

Reilly suggested the former president’s claim of having a 2.8 handicap had been doctored.

“He has recorded only 20 scores in eight years even though he plays more golf than any other president,” he stated. “I put in my every score in the computer because that’s what you do in golf. At my club guys will put in your score for you if you’re avoiding it. Trump doesn’t put in scores. That’s so unethical.”

“Trump doesn’t just cheat at golf,” Reilly wrote in his book, Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump, published in 2019. “He cheats like a three-card Monte dealer. He throws it, boots it, and moves it. He lies about his lies. He fudges and foozles and fluffs.

“At Winged Foot, where Trump is a member, the caddies got so used to seeing him kick his ball back onto the fairway they came up with a nickname for him: ‘Pelé,'” he added.

Biden seems to enjoy antagonizing Trump. Last week, Biden’s campaign mocked Trump’s fundraising numbers in an email, in which he called the former president “Broke Don.”

Public election filings show Trump’s campaign had raised $10.9 million in February and $11 million through his joint fundraising committee. His campaign currently has $42 million in cash.

Biden’s campaign raised far more money, almost $53 million in the same month. So far, his campaign has $155 million in cash, which is almost four times as much as his opponent’s campaign.

The email read, “Not a Winning Campaign: Broke Don Hides in Basement.”
