Pride month has come to an end, but Lil Nas X spent the final hours of the Pride Month revealing his sexuality.

The 20-year old “Old Town Road” rapper went to Twitter and pointed out the lyrics to “c7osure,” a song off his new debut EP, as confirmation that he identified as a member of the L.G.B.T.Q. community.

In the song’s lyrics, Lil Nas X sings, “Ain’t no more actin’, man that forecast say I should just let me grow.” Later in the song, he says, “This is what I gotta do, can’t be regrettin’ when I’m old.”

A few hours later, Lil Nas X posted the album art for his EP,  7, on Twitter. The art features Lil Nas X in his cowboy gear, riding a horse and looking out on a skyline with bright rainbow lights. His tweet mentions that he thought he made it obvious to fans about his sexuality.

According to The New York Times, Lil Nas X’s first tweet addressing sexuality suggested that the news could cost him some fans. However, fans were outpouring with support. Many fans even promising to defend Lil Nas X if he became a target because of his sexuality.

Lil Nas X coming out on social media seems fitting, as the rapper built his fame as an amateur meme maker. He used his internet savviness to help make “Old Town Road” into a cultural phenomenon. The song, which he calls a “country-trap” hybrid, became the soundtrack to a dance challenge on the social network Tik Tok, which quickly turned into a viral meme. “Old Town Road” is now entering its 13th week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
