Michelle Obama and Melania Trump stood with their arms around each other next to their husbands, President Barack Obama and president elect Donald Trump moments before the inauguration.

THE OBAMAS & TRUMPS TOGETHER PRIOR TO INAUGURATION

The inauguration of the 45th President of the United States occurred today, displaying the peaceful transfer of power that the U.S. democracy is known for. Trump was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts at noon today, ending Obama’s eight year run as Commander in Chief.

Likewise, Michelle Obama gave up her title as First Lady and passed it on to Melania. President Obama was all smiles throughout the event, shaking hands when prompted and enjoying the music of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Melania, in a powder blue Ralph Lauren ensemble, channeled Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, who wore the same shade at JFK’s 1961 inauguration.

“From this day forward, it’s going to be only America first, America first,” said Trump in his speech following being sworn in. “Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs will be made to benefit American workers and American families… Together we will make America strong again, we will make America wealthy again, we will make America proud again, we will make America safe again. And, yes, together we will make America great again.”
