Manziel, 23, turned himself in on misdemeanor assault charges in Highland Park, Texas, Wednesday. During his booking, the athlete gave a smile for the cameras. Afterwards, Manziel was released on $1,500 bond – and took to Twitter to comment on his latest mugshot.
“Just thankful I had a shirt this time…” he tweeted. The tweet, which referenced Manziel’s shirtless mugshot back in 2012 for an incident in college, was quickly deleted
.
Manziel stands accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley, who claims that the quarterback got violent with her on Jan. 30.
“He grabbed me by my hair and threw me back into the car and got back in himself,” Crowley told police at the time. “He hit me with his open hand on my left ear for jumping out of the car. I realized immediately that I could not hear out of that ear, and I still cannot today, two days later.”
If convicted of a Class A misdemeanor, Manziel could face up to a year in jail. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
