King Charles Refuses To Forgive Son Prince Harry As Tumultuous Relationship Disintegrates Further
Prince Harry is pulling out all the stops in order to get the attention of his father, King Charles, amid their growing rift.
Although Prince Harry has publicly acknowledged his desire to reconcile with his family, their relationships show no sign of improving anytime soon. Harry told the BBC in May, “I don’t know how much longer my father has…He won’t speak to me.”
During a recent trip to the U.K., Harry got “total silence” from his father.
Royal expert Angela Levin – who regularly scrutinizes Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle – posted a comment to X responding to a recent report that Prince Harry had considered changing his family’s surname from the traditional Mountbatten-Windsor to his late mother Princess Diana’s maiden, name “Spencer.”
Levin wrote, “Harry asked his uncle if he could change his name to Spencer. He’s doing anything and everything to upset and anger his father and brother. He must know it’s not the way to make amends with the King. His wish is phony.”
A friend of the Prince’s told The Daily Mail that Harry and his uncle, Earl Spencer, had spoken about the specifics of the name change, and Harry was advised that the legal challenges would be “insurmountable.”
“They had a very amicable conversation and Spencer advised him against taking such a step,” the friend said.
Valentine Low, author of the upcoming book Power and the Palace, commented to People that Harry seeking the name change likely “wasn’t meant to be an attack, but it would be seen as one.”
“It makes Charles reaching out even harder,” she explained.
The relationship between King Charles and Harry has been strained ever since Harry and Markle left the royal family and moved to California in 2020. Harry’s separation from the family was followed by a series of bombshell interviews and his memoir Spare, in which he denounced his relatives and royal life.
