A very grateful and tearful Meghan Trainor won her first Grammy for Best New Artist at tonight’s Grammys.

“I have to think L.A. Reid for looking at me like an artist instead of just a songwriter,” the singer said, audibly sobbing.

The artist rose to fame after her hit song, “All About That Bass” proved lovable to all generations for its positive message. It followed with “Lips Are Movin,’” “Marvin Gaye,” “Dear Future Husband” and “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.” Her January 2015 debut album Title hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
