Lisa Kudrow landed a recurring role as a politician on Shonda Rhimes' political drama Scandal, starring Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn.

The specifics of Kudrow’s role on the hit ABC series have yet to be revealed, reports Deadline, who broke the casting news. The former Friends actress, 50, had at least one familiar face to greet her when filming for Scandal’s third season began – Dan Bucatinsky. Bucantinsky, who plays Cyrus’s (Jeff Perry) husband on the show, is Kudrow’s long-time producing partner.

Following Friend’s tenth and final season, Kudrow starred in her own HBO series called The Comeback. Since then, she’s taken on a number of small supporting roles in films, including P.S. I Love You and Easy A. The actress more recently has been focusing on her producing of TV series Web Therapy, in which she impovs as therapist Fiona Wallace.

Kudrow recently admitted, that had it been up to her, Friends would have continued on after the 2004 season. “Individually, oh, I would’ve kept going," Kudrow admitted on Piers Morgan Tonight. "There would have come a time anyway when someone would have said, 'We've had enough.' But why not have fun until they do?" The actress also finds that nearly a decade removed from the hit comedy sitcom, she can watch the show and laugh like one of the show’s millions of fans.

In other Scandal news, former Felicity actor and Grey’s Anatomy guest star Scott Foley has been promoted to series regular.
